Esthetic dental veneers
People usually opt for veneers due to various dental irregularities such as misaligned teeth (asymmetry), stained teeth, damaged or chipped teeth, or teeth with fillings.
How are they made?
Porcelain veneers require minimum preparation of the front tooth surface (0.5 mm – usually compared to contact lens thickness), which means only a tiny part of the tooth is damaged. Although very thin, they cover all tooth irregularities. Some veneers require no enamel removal; these are referred to as lumineers. Veneers can change the size, shape and colour of your teeth, thus providing you with a perfect smile.
Purpose
Veneers are designed to give you a Hollywood smile in a relatively short time and with a minimally invasive method. They keep the natural tooth vital while changing its shape, colour and size. Nowadays, veneers are made almost exclusively from top-quality porcelain materials, whose translucent quality gives the tooth a perfectly natural appearance and lustre.
what do we need to know
Dental veneers are recommended for anyone dissatisfied with the appearance of his/her smile, as they can be used to correct the colour, shape and size of teeth. People are increasingly interested in dental veneers, being better acquainted with the procedure and its outcomes. Such correction has the power to change lives, boost people’s confidence and put an everlasting smile on their faces.
It must be noted that dental veneers are designed to improve the aesthetics of teeth (shape, colour, size), which is the main indication for such correction. Patients with severe anomalies, however, must consider braces or surgical procedures.
Procedure
The procedure requires no prior preparations and imposes no limitations. The most important thing is for the patient to be well-informed on the procedure and the expected outcome. The procedure alone usually takes two visits to our dental office. During the first visit, the tooth is filed down slightly (0.3 – 0.5 mm) and a dental impression is taken. The patient is then provided with temporary veneers to be worn until his/her next appointment, which is usually scheduled within 7 days. On the second visit, the permanent veneers are applied, and the patient can face the world with a wide smile. The entire procedure is painless and thus patient-friendly.
Dental veneers can be removed so as not to interfere with any further dental treatment; any subsequent tooth maintenance will thus not be affected.
